About the Designer and Company:
Hans Könecke, the founder of Tecta, was a key figure in the evolution of German modernist furniture. After working in Caracas, Venezuela, where he designed for DK Muebles, Könecke returned to Germany and established Tecta in Lauenförde in the late 1950s. The company quickly became synonymous with innovative design and craftsmanship.Tecta’s collaboration with Marcel Breuer, a Bauhaus legend, played a pivotal role in preserving and reinterpreting Bauhaus principles. Until Breuer’s death in 1981, Tecta produced licensed versions of his iconic designs, such as the Wassily chair, adapting them for modern markets.
